Ayant rejoint, sans démarche réfléchie, l’extension dite sauvage (comprendre rurale) du Figure Project, je participe à 4 week ends dans l’année d’ateliers de danse contemporaine. La note d’intention mentionne “une aventure choregraphique à la campagne… ouvert(e) à tous et a(yant) pour ambition d’être à la fois exigeant(e) et jubilatoire”. Chaque week-end, un chorégraphe différent nous initie à ses techniques et réflexions, improvisation, écriture du mouvement, etc. Deux week-ends sont passés, et je veux garder trace de ce qui pour moi est certainement la naissance d’un nouveau paradigme personnel.
J’avais brièvement relaté là mon ignorance de la danse en général, naturellement plus portée vers la performance off, mais il s’agissait sans doute d’une méprise catégorisante dont je suis seule responsable. Toujours est-il qu’il ne me serait jamais venu à l’esprit de considérer la danse, fut-elle contemporaine, comme une pratique que je pourrais tenter. Je crois avoir découvert assez tardivement que j’avais un corps, capable (et nécéssitant sans doute) plus que ses fonctions quotidiennes, et c’est, plus tard encore, dans cette lancée, que j’apprends depuis quelques années le Tai Chi Chuan, qui ainsi, constitue de fait, mon premier lexique de mouvements.

Kathleen nous a donné quelques mouvements de base, quelques angles de ses procédés de création. J’ai ainsi compris comment l’inspiration pouvait se déployer en mouvement et le mouvement investir et se dessiner dans l’espace. Moi qui avais toujours eu du mal à faire abstraction de la vision du corps pour la vision du mouvement, les éléments de pratique qu’elle nous a transmis m’ont facilité l’accès à ce regard. Puis, le Tai Chi a constitué ma première grille d’interprétation/appropriation, et a permis de viser une sorte d’expression propre, notamment en improvisation. J’ai alors vêcu une expérience extraordinaire.
J’ai découvert que le corps pouvait être pris/surpris dans une intention qui le dépasse, que, dans ma grande candeur, j’oserai nommer artistique, faute de n’avoir pu la décrire autrement, ne relevant pas du commun, du thérapeutique au sens large (sport, réajustement structural, seitai…) ou du sexuel. L’éclosion de ce désir de mouvement a été un moment extraordinaire et inattendu, vertigineux dès la réalisation que cette intention corporelle pouvait, depuis cette origine, être aussi conscientifiée.

La première chose qui m’est venue dans la juxtaposition des deux week-ends, est que si lors du premier nous avions pu voir comment le mouvement pouvait créer l’espace, c’est le processus mirroir que nous allions expérimenter là : comment l’espace/paysage (imaginé, subit, désiré) créait le mouvement et/ou le corps. Il y avait cette fois-ci, comme une essence naturaliste primordiale pour ensemencer l’expérimentation, celle-ci à même ensuite de se développer qui par hasard ou déterminisme, par collaborations, jusqu’à mes fascinations habituelles pour l’émergence de structures autonomes.
